Sambal Tempeh

Pan-fried instead of deep fried, this version is healthier and easier to prepare. All you need is 15 minutes and a handful of ingredients to make this sambal tempeh.

Ingredients

  • 200g tempeh, cut into small cubes
  • 3–4 tbsp Puteri Cili Giling
  • 2 tbsp cooking oil (for sambal)
  • Oil for frying tempeh
  • 2–3 tbsp water

Instructions

  1. Fry the Tempeh:
    • Heat oil in a pan and deep-fry or shallow-fry tempeh until golden brown.
  2. Cook the Sambal:
    • In a separate pan, heat 2 tbsp oil.
    • Add Puteri Cili Giling and water.
    • Cook over medium heat until the sambal thickens and the oil starts to separate.
  3. Combine:
    • Add the fried tempeh to the sambal.
    • Stir well to coat each piece evenly.
  4. Serve:
    • Enjoy hot with rice or as a side to your favourite dishes.
