Tofu with Puteri Sauces

Soft tofu, delicious gravy, and a balance of bold flavors using Puteri Soy Sauce, Puteri Liquid Soy Sauce, and Puteri Vinegar.

Ingredients

For the Gravy:

  • 2 tbsp Puteri Soy Sauce

  • 1 tbsp Puteri Liquid Soy Sauce

  • 1 tsp Puteri Vinegar

  • 2 tbsp cooking oil

  • 2 cloves garlic (minced)

  • 1 small onion (chopped)

  • 1/2 tsp ginger (minced)

  • 1 red chili (optional, for heat)

  • 1 cup water or vegetable stock

  • 1 tsp cornstarch + 2 tbsp water (for thickening)

  • Salt & pepper to taste

For the Tofu:

    • 300g soft or silken tofu (cubed)

    • A handful of spring onions (chopped)

    • Fried shallots or sesame seeds (optional garnish)

Instructions

  1. Sauté Aromatics
    Heat oil in a pan. Add garlic, onion, and ginger. Sauté until fragrant and lightly golden. Add red chili if using.

  2. Build the Gravy
    Add Puteri Soy Sauce, Puteri Liquid Soy Sauce, and Puteri Vinegar. Stir well, then add the water or vegetable stock. Let it simmer gently.

  3. Thicken the Sauce
    Mix cornstarch and water into a slurry. Add it to the pan and stir until the gravy thickens.

  4. Add the Tofu
    Gently add cubed tofu. Let it simmer for 2–3 minutes to absorb the flavor.

  5. Serve
    Garnish with spring onions and fried shallots. Serve hot with steamed rice.
