Ingredients

  • 250g pasta (spaghetti, penne, or fusilli)
  • 200g minced beef or thinly sliced beef strips
  • 2 tbsp Puteri Cili Giling (ground chili paste)
  • 1 onion, finely chopped
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tomato, diced
  • 2 tbsp tomato sauce (optional, for a bit of sweetness)
  • 1 tbsp Puteri Kicap Cair (light soy sauce)
  • 1 tsp sugar
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 tsp mixed herbs (like oregano or basil)
  • 2 tbsp cooking oil
  • Fresh parsley or coriander for garnish (optional)
  • Grated parmesan or cheddar cheese (optional)

Instructions

    1. Cook the pasta: Boil the pasta according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.
    2. Sauté the aromatics: Heat the cooking oil in a pan over medium heat. Sauté the onion and garlic until fragrant and soft.
    3. Cook the beef: Add the minced or sliced beef and cook until browned and fully cooked. Season with a pinch of salt and pepper.
    4. Add the spice: Stir in Puteri Cili Giling and cook for 1-2 minutes until the oil separates and the chili paste is fragrant.
    5. Create the sauce: Add the diced tomato, tomato sauce (if using), Puteri Kicap Cair, sugar, and mixed herbs. Cook for another 3-4 minutes until the sauce thickens. Taste and adjust seasoning if needed.
    6. Combine: Toss the cooked pasta into the sauce, making sure it’s well-coated. Let it cook together for 1-2 minutes so the flavors blend.
    7. Serve: Plate the pasta and garnish with fresh parsley or coriander and a sprinkle of grated cheese if you like.
